Things rocked quite a bit here in Philadelphia. After many years in Japan I knew instantly what it was, and just sat tight. You can tell within the first five seconds if a quake is serious, and only if it is do you get under the table. Otherwise, stay alert and ready to catch things so they don't get broken. I went and checked our alcohol collections afterwards. Many years ago I made sure that the tops of all the shelf units were tied together with steel angle bars, more out of habit than anything else. I never thought we'd get a quake, but I'm happy we did the work now.
