I think the term "authentic fake" belongs with "honest
politician". But you are quite right in general about some fakes
being quite artistic. My brother is an expert on Japanese postage
stamps and has shown me a number of "authentic fakes" in that field,
all meticulously done. I have also seen rare coins copied. What will
it be next? Fake Barbie dolls?
