Thanks to all who responded about John du Pont.  We wondered if it was
_that_ du Pont, but thought surely not.  Do you suppose trying to
catalog and identify all those shells caused the schizophrenia?
 
Thanks, especially, to Barbara Tan for the URL for the mollusk section
of the DMNH.  We look forward to browsing it.
 
I'm still curious about Dr. Zahl, if anyone hears anything about him.
Apparently, he was a very well respected naturalist.
 
I would happily buy the CD-ROM's of the National Geographic if I could
convince my husband to part with the originals.  No way!  We may soon
have to buy a house to just store them.
