The Lima lima/vulgaris is an almost impossible separation task using
only shell characters, the amount of synonymy associated with the two
species highlights this. Perhaps like the equally problematical Mytillus
edulis/galloprovincialis/planulatus these will never be resolved without
some extensive research.
