Many eligions have had sacred shells. In the Hindu, Vishnu is seldom
depicted without a Chank shell in his hands. The Chanks is the emblem
of the theft of their sacred writings. The analogy is that wisdom
(stolen by the Chank) descended into the densest matter (the shell) and
was carried to the depths of the sea and was recovered by Vishnu.

I did a study and program on Shells/Religion.
