Sirs,
What are the effects of surface coal mining operations on waters which
have mussels? The Fall Creek Falls State Park and Natural Area's
sub-watersheds are being consider for "stripmining operations" by the
Office of Surfacve Mining (OSM) at the moment. Mussels are found in the
streams locayted down-stream of the watershed. OSM believes that the
"up-stream" surface coal mining operations WILL NOT EFFECT the mussel
opoulation which are located "down-stream". THE JOKE OF THE YEAR.
Can you provide me with any information on the effects of surface
coal mining operations on mussels?
Thank you,
Landon Medley
