Conch-Lers,

Several positions in administration and computer services are open at the
museum where I work, including one that is half-time in malacology. We
sometimes have trouble attracting qualified applicants, because as a
non-profit organization, our pay scale is low. It strikes me that some of
you might like the chance to work in a museum; and I would like to have more
staff members who appreciate mollusks. If you are interested in any of the
four positions described below, please contact me privately, and I will send
you the official job notice.

Information manager, biodiversity group

Implementing normalized data structures in a PC/Macintosh LAN environment;
merging databases across disciplines and platforms; designing and producing
user interfaces; ensuring security and integrity of data; managing Internet
servers currently running LINUX; making collections data available via WWW.
Salary, about $31,000. Start date: May. This position is half-time malacology.

Systems Administrator, Computer Services

Experience with Novell Netware 4.x and 3.x (required), Groupwise 5.2,
Windows NT, Win95 and Win 3.x, Microsoft Office. Experience with Unix,
Macintosh and Internet helpful. Salary, about $40,000. Start date: immediate.

Administrative director, Biodiversity Group

Day-to-day management of adminstrative and business function of biodiversity
group (about 40 people); prepare annual budgets and financial projections;
review outgoing grant proposals; manage personnel actions; coordinate with
other sections of museum; administer special projects. Salary, about
$45,000. Start date: April/May.

Director of Human Resources

This position hasn't been announced yet, but the incumbent is retiring in a
few months.

These are all full-time (35 hour/week basis), permanent positions. We can
consider only applicants that currently have the legal status to work in the
United States.
