Merry Christmas!

With regards to presenting computer-displayed items,
a newer option -- but still not cheap -- is the 'scan-converter'
which takes a portion (or all) of the 'desktop' and sends
it out as a TV signal.

The unit I bought (at OfficeMax for ~US$250; not cheap, but
lists for $400) is called "TView Gold Card" and is intended
for laptop presentations -- i.e., this version is a PCMCIA
plug-in card. There is also an expansion card for desktop units.

This is not a commercial for these guys, but the product is
quite flexible. The user may choose the PAL (European) or NTSC
(American) video standard, one of three output types (composite,
S-Video, or SCART), to overscan or underscan, a 2x zoom feature,
and use positioning controls, or change sharpness and brightness.

Additionally, the user can make a "virtual" desktop area that is
to the right or left of the computer's displayed desktop (above
and below the desktop are also options) for the presentation area.

Now... let's go shopping for a 52-inch projection TV.......

Aloha,

makuabob (a.k.a. Bob Dayle)
