To all,
The other evening one of our members brought a specimen to show us,
as her treasure. It was a Pterygia arctata(Sowerby, 1874) and she had
gotten it on Truk Island. She had asked me to price it for her as she
thought that it was "RARE". I looked in Rice's Prices (under Mitra) and
found that it was only listed from the Solomons ($35.00) and the
Philippines ($65.00) Not so rare. But I was wondering if anyone knows of
specimens from Truk. Are specimens from unusual places more valuable than
from other more common locations?
I told the woman that I'd check with Conch-L for an answer.
