Good Morning Bruce:  
 
About Cymatium (Monoplex) intermedium (Pease, 1869}, its type locality is
Hawaii where it is common.  It is much less frequently found throughout the
Indo-West Pacific both north and south of the equator.  No not confuse with
aquatile or pileare.
 
The only live specimens that I have collected were from Hawaii and were
along rocks 
in a few feet of water.  Henning and Hemmen in their book Ranellidae &
Personidae of the World list as the habitat:  "In tide pools and on
fringing reefs, down to 90 m."  If you are interested in these families
that would be an excellent book for you to have.
