Re Ross Mayhew's question:
Emily Vokes, in an unpublished ms. of all presumed "valid" Muricid taxa of
August 1996, prefaces Trophoninae with the comment that they are a
nightmare, then adds a number of other disclaimers suggesting further study
is necessary.
Nevertheless, in her opinion at the time, she listed 21 species of Trophon
and 36 species of Boreotrophon s.s. plus 11 species of Boreotrophon in
subgenera Pagodula and Nodulotrophon.
