A little while ago, someone asked what the abbreviation "leg." meant, and
various people correctly answered that it means "collector" or "collected",
from the Latin legit. I've just noticed on labels of material on loan from
the Florida Museum of Natural History, Malacology Division, that they use
the abbreviation to mean "donor", presumably based on "legacy".
