There apparently have been a number of "Abbotts" active in the world of
zoology. A quick web search reveals the following critters with the
specific name "abbotti":
- several lizards
- several birds (including Sula abbotti, otherwise known as Abbott's Booby)
- an extinct primate
- a frog
- an ascidian
- a terrestrial crab
- an ant
I believe the reptiles were named after Clinton Abbott, a past director
of the San Diego Society of Natural History. The others, I have no idea.
OK, I'm outta here! Heading to Cape Cod for a relaxing week of rest,
sun, and hopefully a few shells.
