Dear Scott,
Thanks to Patty Jansen's auction of second hand books on CONCH-L two weeks
ago, I now have a copy of Jerry Walls' Cone Shells - A synopsis of the
living conidae. The answer you want is there on pp. 539-543. The specimen
you have is likely to be C.gubernator. "The market of the moment is highly
unstable for this species, and caution is suggested before purchasing
specimens at high prices. It has been widely called C. 'pramparti' in the
literature, a mansucript name that should not be used. Specimens of C.
terminus from the southern Indian Ocean have been sold as this species, but
they are easily distinguishable (usually) by the more irregular pattern and
different shape".

There is an extensive discussion of the comparison of these species and I
would recommend you also take a look at the figures on page 349.

Cheers,

Bruce Livett

I could find in Rockel, Korn & Koen.
