Well, it's for real. I suddenly received a notification from our central
MIS system that "somebody in the company" had received an email with this
file (grace.pif), that this file had a virus, and that it had been deleted
by our virus software on the central mail server for our comapny intranet.
Since I had just received Alan's email with the automatic notification that
"the suspicious file grace.pif has been deleted from this email", I went to
MIS and identified myself as the culprit. I was told "no harm done, we
caught it in time."
Anyway, others on Conch-L also received the attachment but didn't open it;
so everybody who receives the message without an attachment has good virus
protection software.
But really, Bill, there is such an attachment, and it has a virus, kid you
not... :-)

Cheers,

Monika

It's quite amazing how the "alleged" virus file has affected Listserv
members
who were in Alan Gettelmans address book.

I too received the aforementioned mailing "but with no attachment" as
described by several others (Grace.pif). My research indicates that
there is no new virus going around with this titlle, etc., etc.

Did anyones anti-virus software assign this alleged virus a name? If not,
it's either new or a false positive.

Of course, my anti-virus and firewall software may have precluded the
payload arriving here.

Bill
