Interesting article in Florida Today.  3000 scallops (Argopecten
concentricus) were planted in the Gulf of Mexico to rebuild Tampa Bay.
 
They admitted Pollution and dredging of the seagrass has reduced the
population of the scallops.  Cleanup efforts of Tampa Bay has spurned
seagrass beds to come back and now they are re-populating them with the
scallops.  Hooray...they didn't blame over-collecting for a change!!
Some scallops have started to re-populate themselves but Florida Marine
Research Institute decided to help it along.  The planted scallops are
less than an inch wide.
