Harry,
What is your interest in Xenophora. I too am fascinated in this
family because of the "Psychology" of it all. Why "decorate" with certain
species and not another? I have one Xenophora (pallidula) which has
connected itself to another and a piece of coral. My imagination forces me
to see the struggle that went on between the two. Why bivalves upside
down? Too many questions and not enough answers.
I just received 2 fossil Xenophora crispa from italy with only the
indentations of where the shells had been. My wife too is interested in
other families (Muricidae), but seems to think that my fascination for this
crazy collector shell is nuts. I've told her that it is like our own
collecting...different species for different folks.
Sometimes Ralph Ferguson has very inexpensive Xenophora that you
could easily break or cut if you want to see formations. His address is
Fergusons marine Supplies 617 Fries Ave. Wilmington, California,90744
