Hi Wesley,

I don't mean to cause any trouble but I actually prefer the html format. If there's not a big clamor for it, I can live with Acrobat all right. I do look forward to having a complete set of Lutao micros on CD but that may be years away.

A long time ago, I tried to email the author of the Taiwan series to ask for an ID but he didn't respond. Is he usually accessible? I.e., should I try again?

I've got some more images of Mitrella antares which I'll send.

David

Subject: October 2005 IHSN

The October 2005 issue of IHSN is now on line with links to the four sections of the three most recent issues at the IHSN portal at URL:

http://home.att.net/~w.thorsson/index.html

A number of years ago, I introduced the Acrobat version of IHSN that had been in HTML and there was reluctance to accept the change by people not at home with Acrobat documents. I accommodated these people by putting both HTML and Acrobat version on line primarily for people who couldn't copy photos from Acrobat.

Today Acrobat is a worldwide standard and all versions of Acrobat Reader provide for copying graphics by selecting a "select graphics" tool from the menu bar, outlining the graphic, selecting "copy" to have the graphic in memory. Then in Photoshop, select File, New, ok the resulting blank graphic, and then use Edit, Paste. You then have the graphic selected and can file it.

Is there any aversion to my dropping the HTML version to reduce the work required to put out IHSN? This would also occasionally allow more sections in Acrobat within the memory I have on att.net.

The Acrobat version on CD is the official, long term reference for IHSN.

Thanks to Gary Rosenberg and Paul Callomon at Academy of Natural Science at Philadelphia and Jerry Harasewych at National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D. C. for facilitating my photographing Collumbellidae type specimens there in the past month, and to Tom and Beatrice Burch, John Wolff, and Marta deMaintenon for their acting as reviewers of IHSN.

Aloha, Wesley Thorsson

Man's attitude toward nature is today critically important simply because we have now acquired a fateful power to alter and destroy nature.
