Dear Friends:
1. There were books mentioned I beleive on conch-l, and another several
years ago at Jacksonville Shell Show auction, that gave the derivation
of species names, their Latin and Greek meanings, something like
Derivation of Biological Names or something like that. Can any provide
that, or similare book names and authors?

2. Also discussion on Formaldehyde. Anywhere to get formaydehyde and or
formalin at a commercial or mail order soruce? The local drug store in
Satellite Beach, Florida, where we used to get formalin, is no longer in
business. Please any practical sources would be appreciated (not the
enjoyable but none too practicable earlier conch-l that one got
formaldehyde from the basement of a retired undertaker; nor contact a
university, that is not an option here).

3. Another long thread was on the Dow Corning 200 liquid silica, I
believe was the brand name for "oiling" shells. Anywhere to purchase
that? The "check a well-stocked paint store" from a previous conch-l
did not prove successful here.

Thank you,

Alan Gettleman
