The work done on conus morphology, its opercula, its external animal
characteristics, or venom will never be outdated.  Additional
information from DNA, shell material, periostracum will add to the logic
of subdividing Conus into subgenera (if it is ever truly justified and a
key can be made up that will be applicable to all Conus. All the
characteristics will have a place in the system.
