I have never really seen such a work (illustrations of juvenile
shells).  There are scattered verbal descriptions in most older general
works like Abbott's "American Seashells," and a few pictures (last page
of the compendium and some species illustrations that state an immature
individual) but that is it.  I am quite sure a careful search of the
literature would come up with quite a bit of information, but it would
involve a lot of looking.
