Dear Conch-L,

Has anyone read Geerat Vermeij's autobiography "Privileged Hands:
A Scientific Life"?

It's is about the life of evolutionary biologist and paleontologist Dr. Geerat
Vermeij, his contributions to conchology-malacology (he used both terms in
his book), discussions of field work, and how he became successful in his
field despite being blind.

I have just finished it and wondered if anyone had thoughts about the book,
or Dr. Vermeij's work in general.

I am becoming interested in shell form and function, as particularly related
to habitat.

Elizabeth
