To all recipients of the Alabama Marine Species List:
It has been brought to my attention that Pelecypoda was used in place
of the correct Bivalvia. I had made that change in the list and why it did
not "take" I am unsure. I did not catch that in my proof reading. Please
make that necessary change in the nomenclature. Also, I received a question
regarding the three freshwater unionids included on the list. Please note
that these have been found in Mobile Bay at I-10 and US90 coexisting with
Rangia cuneata, Polymesoda caroliniana and Neritina reclivata. These were
first reported by Dr. Fred Thompson, Curator of Mollusks, Florida Museum of
Natural History. Recent collections at the site have confirmed their presence
there.
