There are no snakes that will turn into a 'hoop' and chase anything down
the road.  This is one of those old tales not unlike a cottonmouth moccasin
spitting cotton balls at you (the name comes from the whitish interior of
the mouth).  Some snakes flail dramatically when startled and this may be
the origination of the 'hoop' myth.
