I must admit that if there is an analogy to Darwin's finches in the shell world, it is the
remarkable array of endiginous Conus spp on the Cape Verde islands!  **But**, are they all valid
species, or are many of them just isolated forms of spp which occur in W. Africa (ie, has anyone
done DNA comparisons or the relevant breeding experiments?) - or perhaps  a remnant population of a
larger W. African fauna?
        Can anyone refer me to (*or send me*) an image of Conus mordeirae Rolan & Trovao, 1990, Cape Verde?
I need to check some specimens, but have no references to this one at all - not even a mention of it
on Eddie Hardie's great Gastropod site!!
