My question is: if you need to check for a shell (example: Strombus
ochroglottis), how do you search for it in your magazines/articles? One by
one? Do you keep a kind of title database? If positive, how do you do it?

I keep an Access database for practically all my library material.Important
articles from Magazines e.g. La Conchiglia are all listed thus.
Title= name of book or paper.

Author;                          Date= correct published date.

Code= personal library number of bound magazine or book (I started with A0001).
If papers are kept in Box files I marked these BF 1/ 001 etc. With bound La
Conchiglia magazines an example would be A0010a for the first complete article
etc.

References= eg. La Conchiglia 30(245): 23-25.

Key words = Here I include as many names as possible of the molluscs included
in a paper or the families treated in a book or larger work. To me this is the
most important part for finding the literature appertaining to a particular
species.

Hope this helps.
