Just one question. Has anyone ever seen an "albino" shell with an
albino animal. Some animals are white naturally. I'm talking about the
animals that are naturally colored. We're not talking about mammals, or
reptiles which do have pink eyes. I've seen quite a few shells that I
would call an albino, but the animal was almost normal, or a little
paler. Busycon contrarium, Strombus alatus and Fasciolaria lillium
hunteria were 3 of the live animals that I have seen. The hunteria I
found in a scallop pile with the animal inside. It could have been
lillium lillium, but the shell being pure white I couldn't tell for
sure. I've found quite a few white B. contrarium. Most of these were
under 6 inches. Of course when the Busycon becomes large it turns
white, Then you have to look at the spire which shows its younger years,
and most of the time it will be colored. Only found one white Strombus
alatus.
