Dear Alan, I shelled there many years ago with the late Jack Rader. We
went to many spots. The waves are to much around San Juan, but a lot of
shells come in on the beach. If you travel to either end of the Island
or can get over on the leeward side then the snorkeling is really good.
There are quite a few land snails up in the mountains, but most of the
area is in a reserve. I know at night we found many snails crawling on
the concrete walls by the road up where the giant bamboo grow. Just
don't leave your car unattended. Be a little paranoid. It might keep
you out of trouble.
