I think that the most dangerous place I have ever collected
would be at "The Jetties" in Ft. Pickens National Park near Pensacola,
Florida.
One day I was there and it was rather rough, but I decided to take the
risk
in order to get some of those beautifully patterned Periwinkles. "The
Jetties",
as I call them, are a straight line of large rocks that extends from
shore to about
40'. Of course I didn't go that deep, but I got pretty close to the
splash zone, where
I lifted a slime encrusted rock and found some lovely winkles. On the way
back, I nearly slipped on the rocks with their "green goo" coating and
the large waves nearly knocked me over, but I made it back safe, even
though I might not be so lucky next time............
Kind Regards,
James
