Hi,
A question about Limas. I just saw a couple of live
limas in the local pet shop and for the first time
I saw their amazing light display:
First one edge of the mantle flouresces with a thin
neon blue line, then that one turns off and the
other mantle edge dones the same. The whole display
is amazing and looks exactly like a neon sign flashing
on and off. Wow!
Can anyone explain to me how this fantastic feat is
accomplished? Is it done by bioluminsecent micro-organisms
like in deep sea fish, or by some other means. How
is it timed so perfectly?
