This youngster certainly has his or her head screwed on straight!! I would
**Really** like to be around on the day he or she discovers Pectens ;--}.
i think the reason nobody responded to this so far is because it puts to shame
99% of the shelldogerel this list has seen so far!! (of course, a little levity
is always welcome, so don't anybody thing twice before perpetuating bad puns an
dubious rhymes on all us conchlers!)
From the Wilds of New Scotland,

Below is a poem sent to me by a very young shell collector, thought I would
share it with the list
Andrew
The Volute
Wavy sands with
ebb tide play as
nightlife fills
Australian bays.
Tide is low,
sky grows dark;
love sweet shells
from daylight
tomb embark. Pristine souls,
no malace strewn,
in search of love
with nightime moon.
Volutes, arrive in
currents of bliss;
proclaiming God's love
in sunlight remiss.
Awakened by false light,
volutes are in shock
as man's unkind fingers
pluck, dig and prod.
Protoconch child,
too big for his shell;
is abused like a child
in humanity's hell.
lost to the greed of
tomorrows now past;
the babies not here
to pass on to the rest.
Take what you need;
love what you have:
the rest belong
to Austrailian sands.
Shelllove,SCN
