I don't recall specifics, but a few years ago there was a big deal in
Florida, reported in all the newspapers, where Achatinas became a major
pest, even eating paint off house sidings. I believe the outbreak was
successfully controlled and pet stores were fined. Any Floridians out there
with more information?
