Since this is probably of interest to many of us I am posting it to all.
My wife being from Madagascar, I frequent there almost every other year for
the past 30. Not always in search of shells as her family visits are more
important! (Boo, Hiss?)
Some years ago I met the person that exports most if not all of the land
snails. He is at e-mail [log in to unmask]
His first name is Aldus and his prices are extremely fair as he must travel
that huge island to obtain his stock. Also since the recent political
troubles this my no longer be valid but he had a web sit.
All of his ID's are from a French language book by Fischer-Piette. (My no
longer be in print.) It contained all the Madagascar land snails at the time
of print inculding one that Abbott claimed was extinct. I have these live
collected with operc as does Aldus. Rare but living!
Send your JPEG's to [log in to unmask] as I have a box in my collection that
measures 23x23x6 cm full of the species from Madagascar.
Fred
