Tom Eichhorst is the list expert on Neritoidea. Opinion, Tom?

To my knowledge the Recent Neritidae has the following subfamilies:
Neritinae (includes Clithon)
Neritiliinae
Septariinae
Smaragdiinae

There will be numerous extinct subfamilies... the group has a VERY
long fossil history. According to Klaus Bandel Neritoidea is the most
primitive living gastropod superfamily.
