Is anyone familiar with Siphonochelus boucheti Houart?
This is what I found illustrated on some website, cannot remember
which, but I grabbed the image of a damaged dead shell.
It is not a Siphonochelus but a small Trubatsa, a genus similar to
the former but with the tube bases covering the entire shoulder
bewteen varices.
I have 3 specimens from different dealers, all sold as "Typhis
philippinensis"; I was well aware that the dealers' ID was incorrect.
Does anyone have an image of a DECENT specimen Houart's species, and
also date of description and genus it was placed in by Houart?
Typhinae are wierd beasties, and the taxonomy is a shambles, with
some making the over-the-top claim that they require a separate
family, and almost every worker including obvious nontyphines therein
(Pterotyphis & Prototyphis for example.
