Dear Hadley and all interested in this subject,
Regardless of what anyone has told you before, you must understand that if
you export Australian shells from Australia without permit YOU ARE BREAKING
THE LAW, and can get into trouble. The reality is that in 99% of the cases
no trouble whatsoever will arise, but I know of people (yes, amateur
collectors) who have had their house searched, books and shells confiscated
because they sent a small parcel of Australian shells through the post.
The reality is that getting a permit to export shells is virtually
impossible through bureaucratic requirements which are impossible to
fulfill. So collectors, stuck in the middle, simply take the risk and send
the shells anyway. As long as you realise this, you can make up your own mind
regards
Patty
