Fred,
Like Jr I am quite interested in old nerite collections and would like to
talk to you about what you have. I can provide you a list of names and
synonyms (a work in progress) but it is several pages long and I will need
your email address.
Your Nerta magdalenae should be a dark gray to black shell with strong
spiral ridges and a flat smooth bright yellow parietal shelf. Nerita
incurva is a bit tougher and is usually misidentified. It should be a light
colored shell with dark mottling, rounded spiral ridges, a yellow spire, a
flat parietal shelf with a few ridges at the back of the shelf, two or three
well-formed teeth on the columella, and a white aperture with yellow
staining. Unfortunately, this description fits quite a few nerites.
