Dear Conch-Lers,
I'm pleased to announce the launch of a new web site showcasing my personal
shell collection. I have several more pictures to upload, and I plan to make
substantial updates on a monthly basis as the collection grows. My focus is
Conidae from the Western Atlantic and Caribbean provinces (as you will see). I
make no claims to taxonomical accuracy although I do try my best to keep
up-to-date with recent nomenclature. I have also attempted to arrange my
collection in genus/subgenus groups so species that I believe to be closely
related are spatially near each other. I welcome any feedback and guidance that
you may offer as this e-showcase evolves--an no doubt it will.
Note: There are some names I use in isolation that are more commonly paired with
other species. For example, I have C. carioca instead of C. sanderi or C.
sanderi f. carioca. Although carioca may be a southern population of sanderi, I
leave the i.d. distinct. In these cases I do not have enough evidence to lump
or split.
Regardless of the ordering and ids, I hope you enjoy the photos of these natural
works of art!
