I have a couple of shells taken in nets in Tokyo Bay, Japan back in 1961. The label identifies them as Natica severa Gould 1859, which I found on GNI. However, it is not listed on WoRMS, and I can't find it as a synonym of other shells. Nor can I find any pictures online.
It closely resembles Natica vitellus (Linnaeus, 1758), and also N. heros, Say, 1822 (now Euspira ...). but it is not listed as a synonym of either.
Can anyone verify for me what the current name is?
Thanks, Dale Snyder
