John,
Three of the names in your list fall into my area of expertise.
Makri, Lycia, Turkey: Makri is the old name of the town now known as Fethiye
in southwestern Turkey. Lycia was the ancient name of this general area; it
is now used only in a historical context.
Makro, Cilicia, Turkey: Cilicia was, again, the historical name of the area
around the present day city Mersin in southern Turkey. But, I don't know
where & what Makro was. My dictionary of historical names in Turkey does not
list Makro.
Samsun, Israel ?Turkey: Samsun is a city in northern Turkey along the Black
Sea. I don't know why Israel is listed with it.
