Hello Tim,
 
I studied Emerita analoga in Santa Barbara for years with Dr. Adrian Wenner.
You may be early as the veligers do not come ashore until about March.
There are aggregations year around though less densely.  Campus beach in
Santa Barbara is a good bet.
