James,
I also got a Cypraea fultoni from Brian and they are very nice but I
have also just seen a gem specimen a friend has and while the ones you
and I have are great in color and all, the gem had a much smoother
surface -- more like a standard cypraea except for a bit of roughness
around the pattern. It is that old addage of "you get what you pay
for." The specimen I saw cost somewhere close to $2,000, so I am real
happy with mine. It was still more than I have ever paid for a cowrie
as I am not a serious cowrie collector. But it is a shell I thought I
would never have. Glad to hear you like yours -- when you hit the
lottery yopu can upgrade with Brian for one of the really special ones.
