Strombus Stories:
Naturally I had always wanted an albino s. alatus and hadn't found one.
Incredibly, there was an albino at COA silent auction, 1997. Initial
bids incredibly low, I got it finally bidding incredibly high. It's
a beautiful shell, live taken on Sanibel ( acc. the label), w/o, shiny
and spiny. And white as the driven snow.
Diving with a hookah rig in Lake Worth, I hit a colony of s. alatus.
Most of them were ordinary color and were left there. One had
dark purple aperture. Then..pay dirt. Purple lip and white aperture.
I hoped to find another - but could go no further on my hookah
hose. So - now I have one stunning s.alatus w. purple lip and white
aperture.
