To whom may be interested:
Taking into consideration the ecological niche preferred by a species and the snail's
relationship to man, I have made an attempt to reconstruct a habitat based on the land snails
yielded during and archeological excavation in Central Italy. The species mentioned below come
from what has been presumably a garden area which covers ca 24 sq. meters.

My question is if one can see that this particular garden area can be considered to be shaded,
humid and more-or-less an area of a low human activity. That is, in comparison to this other
area...

...that covers ca 32 sq. meters. This area seems to have more human activity and to be less
shaded and to have a more nitrified soil.
Key: RNI= relative number of individuals, CC= calcium carbonate, Ni= nitrate.
Any ideas, suggestions, comments on this?
