Dear Conch-ler,

Several subscribers have had email returned to them because their message
was too long. The Conch-l list rejects any email messages that are longer
than 250 lines. This rule along with the no- attachments rule were put in
place to keep viruses off the list.

What some of you may not know is that sending email in HTML format can add
a lot of lines to the message. HTML formatting can turn a simple 4 line
message into a 35+ line message. Many email programs have the ability to
send HTML formated email messages, some are set to do so by default.

You should be able to set your email program so that it does not use HTML
formatting (check under the programs preference, options, or settings). If
you are experiencing problems sending short email messages check to see if
your email program is sending your messages in HTML format.

Amy
