To all of Conch-L:

Due to an unforseen delay, the application deadline for the Malacology
curator position at LACM has been extended to 1 December, 2000. Please
pass this information on to prospective colleagues. Many thanks.

                          CURATOR OF MALACOLOGY

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County invites
applications for the position of Full, Associate, or Assistant Curator, to
direct its research and collections program in Malacology. The museum has
world-class holdings of mollusks, with special strength in marine taxa from
the eastern Pacific, including more than 1,700 type lots, and it boasts a
rich record of contributions to molluscan systematics.

We seek an individual who will augment a productive and
internationally recognized collections-based research program in
malacology. The area of taxonomic specialization is open. The successful
candidate will be expected to implement innovative methodologies and
techniques of molluscan research, further develop the collection,
contribute to the Museum's public programs (education and exhibits), and
become successful in obtaining grants to assist in the support of their
research and the Museum's collection. A Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline
is required.

Applicants should send a curriculum vitae, statement of interest
and professional goals, and the names and addresses of three references by
December 1, 2000, to:

Dr. Gordon Hendler, Chair - Department of Invertebrate Zoology,
Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County,
900 Exposition Boulevard, Los Angeles, California 90007.

Inquiries should be directed to Gordon Hendler <[log in to unmask]>.

The Museum is an equal opportunity employer.
