Subject: shelling in Thailand?

Hi folks,

I've been doing a little studying of the possibilities for an inexpensive
Indo-Pacific trip in several months. Thanks for all the splendid tips.

I got the Lonely Planet book on Thai islands and beaches. Looks terrific.

Question: How serious is it that Thai law forbids the taking of seashells?
Ever enforced? Palm-grease ever called for?
