Hi Ross,

I suspect your latter explanation is probably the right one.  I have seen
plenty of deformed C. arabica, C. caputserpentis, C. annulus, C. carneola,
etc.  The incidence of such deformities is small in any species, but when
you collect a species by the ton, you are bound to find some.
