The collecting of indigenous people did occur up to the turn of the
century.  And, yes, some of these specimens are still in spirits in some of
the older museums of the world.  I think the US museums disposed of their
holdings long ago.  These are not type lots, just voucher specimens, so to
speak.  This practice sounds horrid to us now, but philosophies were
different back then . . . thankfully.  I would have been pickled long ago
as representative of the German redneck stock.
