RE Gundlach:

Johannes Cristoph Gundlach (1810-1896), German/Cuban conchologist,
originally at Marburg University and Senckenberg Museum of Frankfurt am
Main. As Harry relates, he moved to Cuba and eventually changed his name to
a more Spanish moniker - Juan Cristobal. Most of the land snail species
attributed to him were MS names or label names actually published by
Pfeiffer. Pfeiffer was quite generous in attributing his own species to
others - Gundlach, Wright, Shuttleworth, von Maltzan, etc. Pfeiffer,
christened Ludwig, apparently became enamored with the French and later
changed his names to Louis - or so the story goes.
